According to sources, Ferando Michael Villa Valdivieso was standing outside El Refugio Bar on Bloomfield Avenue when a fight escalated and he was hit in the head. Valdivieso was then stabbed with a sharp object, sources said.
He was found by police lying on the sidewalk at 3:20 a.m.,according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé and sources.
Valdivieso was taken to University Hospital in Newark where he was soon pronounced dead, Stephens and Fragé said.
The investigation is active and ongoing and no arrests have been made, Stephens and Fragé said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-847-7432.
